Here at Merley House Holiday Park, we can now offer you an affordable, quality second home set in the beautiful Dorset Countryside.

 

Your choice

You can choose a Log Cabin from manufacturers we use who can supply you with a quality home that will provide many years of enjoyable holidays.

All log cabins can be built to your own specifications, with a choice of:
  • 1,2 and 3 bedrooms
  • sizes ranging from 28' x 20' up to 48' x 20'
  • interior decor - normally the cabin itself with a natural stain.
  • lights, floor coverings, kitchen, bathroom suites and all furniture*

Following extensive research into the Log Cabin Industry, we at Merley have chosen two who we consider to be the best.

Construction

Norwegian Log Sectional diagramThe cabins come flat packed from their country of origin and are assembled on the pre-prepared plot, normally this will take about 5 - 6 weeks to complete. For example, Norwegian Log use a 100 year old kiln dried european spruce log, which leaves the factory treated with preservative. Their own interlocking design ensures a solid construction throughout. During the construction process our own qualified electricians and plumbers will be busy completing their first stage of the project. All log cabins come with their own balcony, walkway and steps. Finance

Once the overall costs have been established, an initial deposit of 30% of the total cost is required to initiate the order. This is followed by three stage payments detailed below:

  • 35% upon delivery of the log cabin to the park
  • 30% upon completion of the main structure - ie walls and roof weathered
  • 5% upon completion of all works by the manufacturer

We have an affiliation with a reputable finance company locally who are always keen to offer you an alternative finance package should you be looking to borrow money.

On Going Costs

Once your log cabin is established on the park, there will be various annual charges that you will incur, as follows:

  • Insurance - again we are able to offer a competative quote on the structure and contents of your log cabin through our own broker
  • Electricity - this is supplied by the park and is individually metered and invoiced once a year
  • Gas - this is currently supplied by bottle and purchased at the reception
  • Pitch Fees - these can be paid quarterly or monthly and include water, rates and VAT at the current rate

Your License

In having a Log Cabin at Merley House Holiday Park you can enjoy the benefit of being offered a 30 year license agreement as drawn up by the British Holiday & Home Parks Association - of which we are members. Longer licenses are negotiable with the Park. Please contact us for further details. The length of season you are able to occupy your log cabin is from the 16th March - 15th February in each year. The license we have from the local council stipulates that the park must be closed for one month.

*These items need to be supplied and fitted by you. (We can arrange the fitting of these items for you)
